Why is Eiffel Tower considered a symbol of France's technological excellent ?

Filled under:

The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition that was held to celebrate the centenary of the French
revolution of 1789. It was meant to be a temporary construction, and was built so that it could be easily dismantled.

However, a more than century later, it is still standing as a symbol of France's technological excellence.
The tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel , known for his revolutionary building techniques. each one of the
about 12,000 iron pieces was designed separately  to get the exact shape needed, and these were then fitted
together.

The Eiffel tower, inaugurated on
March 31st 1889, is
probably Europe's best known
landmark.
