why is Machu Picchu a tribute to the Inca culture

Filled under:

Machu Picchu was an ancient city located in the Andes Mountains. It was built more than 500 years ago, and is a UN world Heritage Site today.

One of Peru's most popular tourist attractions, Machu Picchu has an extraordinary beautiful setting in the middle of a tropical forest, and is a tribute to the architectural excellence of the Inca Empire at its height. Machu Picchu is made up of more than 150 buildings, ranging from baths and houses to temples and sanctuaries.

Most cities built by the Inca civilization were destroyed by the Spanish conquest. However, Machu Picchu was in a hidden location invisible from below- and so it was not found, making it one of the most well-preserved Inca cities.
