If we were able to travel back in time to Ancient Greece and look at constellations from there, we would not notice any difference-and yet they do change. Stars don’t stand still in space, they move, and because the speed at which they move and their direction varies widely from star to star,. They shift relative to one another when seen from our planet. However, because of the huge distances involved, these changes pass unnoticed. Only In the course of tens of thousands of years does the difference become obvious.
