Rainbows appear magical, but there is a simple explanation for their sudden appearance and breathtaking beauty.
Simply saiyng, a rainbow occurs when sunlight is reflected and refracted by the water droplets in the atmosphere. the lower the Sun is in the sky, the higher the arc of the rainbow will be.
How is a rainbow made? well, you know that sunlight looks white, but it's really made up of different colors.. red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. When white sunlight passes through rain drops, the raindrops act like tiny prisms. they bend the different colors in white light, so the light spreads out into a band of colors- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet- the colors of a rainbow.
