How far back each of us remember varies from person to person, but authentic and conscious memories of events that occurred before the age of one are thought to be unlikely. It is even less likely that anyone can truly remember being born. The scientific explanation is that too few brain structures are fully developed at the time of birth. Moreover, memory seems to be firmly linked to language acquisition. Experiments have shown that people are only able to describe in words at the time the incident or event took place.
