Is sport good for all to us?

Filled under:

There is absolutely no doubt that regular physical activity is good for our health. Endurance sports, in particular, improve overall fitness, stimulate the metabolism, reduce stress and prevent cardiovascular diseases. Some types of sport, however, have dubious or only very slight health benefits. These include hang-gliding, boxing and football, which have a high risk of injury. Other kinds of sporting activities can result in damaged muscles and joints if practiced without proper training and instruction. The most frequent injuries are to muscles, and these often pass unnoticed at first. The level of benefit we gain from keep-fit activities also depends on our genes. Scientists believe that this is because they have a different configuration of 'fitness genes' which control the metabolic reactions that produce energy.
