In March 1905, Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientific minds of all time, explained the Quantum Theory of Light. According to this theory, light exists as tiny particles, which he called photons. Along with another scientific, Max Plank, Einstein proposed one of the most revolutionary ideas in twentieth century physics- that we live in a universe built out of tiny, discrete chunks of energy and matter.
Later, in 1905, he published his Theory of Special Relativity. In this theory, he extended Galileo's principle of relativity, so that, it accounted for the constant speed of light. Einstein saw light as both a wave and a particle. He showed that nothing can move faster than light in a vacuum, and that the speed of light in a vacuum is always the same. His work revolutionized the way scientists viewed the world, and had a tremendous impact in the filed of physics especially in studies on light.
