Since the invention of the first programmable calculators in the 1930's computers have continued to develop at an incredible speed. According to Moore's Law, computing power is projected to continued doubling every 12 to 24 months. With today's silicon technology this likely to continue for the next decade,after which many except nano technology to take over.
Computers work with increasingly complex, interconnected components-and they are doing it at ever-increasing speeds.
